Kagutsuchi - zBrush, Maya, Substance Painter, UE5

Kagutsuchi (カグツチ) is the kami of fire and lord of blacksmiths in the Shinto mythology. In this concept, the blacksmiths of the Sagami Province have unearthed the flame god's bones and reforged them into a form of great destructive capacity.

Jogo - zBrush, Maya, Substance Painter, UE5

This character (and associated environment) was inspired by a villain from one of my favorite anime series, Jujutsu Kaisen. In this 3D adaptation, Jogo is much bigger and

grosser than his 2D anime counterpart.​

( WIP ) Airport - Maya, Substance Painter, UE5

This environment is a work-in-progress for a stylized airport scene. The low-poly assets utilize only one texture set in order to achieve optimized VR capabilities.

Gate to the Heavenly Realm - Adobe Photoshop

Takamagahara (高天原) is the "High Plane of Heaven" in Japanese mythology, where the kami themselves are oft born. In this concept, we behold the arch between our realm and theirs, Ame-no-ukihashi, the Floating Bridge of Heaven.

Dr. Scope - Maya, Substance Painter, UE5

This piece was inspired by one of my favorite manga series, Dr.Stone. In modeling and developing this weapon, I aimed to take a step outside of traditional fantasy and historical fiction in order to try something more modernistic and sci-fi.

Aegelesburg - zBrush, Maya, Substance Painter, UE5

This environment was inspired by The Last Kingdom (BBC)  interpretation of Anglo-Saxon Aylesbury as well as other 9th century English architecture. Many assets in this scene underwent sculpting treatments in zBrush to achieve a medieval aesthetic.

Izanami - zBrush, Maya, Substance Painter, UE5

Izanami (イザナミ) is a Shinto goddess of creation and death. This concept displays her within the darkness of Yomi, the underworld, where a pale rot slowly consumes her for having eaten the fruit of the dead. Hers is now a throne of souls.

Isles of the Oni - zBrush, Maya, Substance, Houdini, Gaea, Speedtree, UE4

The most expansive of my student projects. Welcome to the Isles of the Oni, where the shinigami have dwelled for hundreds of years. Thousands, if you believe the old tales. This scene encompasses my student skillsets across many 3D programs.

Shinobi's Vigil - zBrush, Maya, Substance, Megascans, UE5

This scene, comprised largely of Megascans assets and foliage, displays an elder shinobi in a few high res closeups, focusing on lighting and composition in UE5. Sometimes a shinobi just needs some quality alone time in the forest, ya know?

Eiichiro Oda's pirate tale of love and laughter has never failed to inspire an artistic creativity within me, thus it would have felt wrong not to model something from the vast world of One Piece before the end of college.

Tower of the Witan - Maya, Substance Painter, Speedtree, Gaea, UE5

Where the king assembles his lords ealdormen to discuss matters of rule. As you may recognize, the exterior was inspired by a certain realm in Hajime Isayama's Attack on Titan, while the interior is a scatter of fantasy-themed and Anglo-Saxon props.

Main Menu - UE5 & Others

Silhouette of the Sun is a Shinto-themed PC game that is set in both the mortal plane of Japan and the Heavenly Realms of Japanese folklore. Here I've constructed Main Menu, wherefrom a player can begin and/or customize their game experience.

NPCs - Unreal Engine 5

NPCs are standardized across the entire game. The base "Villager NPCs" utilize the Parent Blueprint which my other NPCs inherit for their distinct Child roles, some of such being shopkeepers, quest characters, stablemasters, bards, etc.

Gameplay Systems - Maya, Photoshop, Unreal Engine 5

This page details the various gameplay systems which are present across the entire game. Presently, this page details the inventory system, which allows the player to collect and utilize items from chests, other NPCs, and the general environment.

My roots in the 3D art world stem from my passion for level design and environment art, and thus "Silhouette of the Sun" is partly an excuse to indulge myself with lots of environmental storytelling. Find such environments here.

Beast Mounts - Unreal Engine 5

Mounts are not only the swiftest way of getting around, but also make for lively companions as well as staunch allies in combat. Beast mounts are equipped with a basic moveset, physical abilities, and a special attack.
